SPIDER ROOM
Last summer
I went on holiday with my girlfriend. We spent one week in Barcelona and we
stayed in a hotel called API. We booked this hotel because one of my best
friends, Phil, told me that was directed by his mother and they had excellent
rooms and service. If Phil hadn’t told us that, we’d have booked another hotel.
When we arrived there we ask for our room and one man picked up our luggage and
he went with us into the room. We opened the door and the man left our bags
next to the bed. The room was very clear with white walls and the double bed
was enormous. Suddenly my girlfriend shouted: “Ah! There is a spider in the
middle of the bed!” and she ran out of the room crying because she has
arachnophobia. Afterwards I called to the reception and they changed us the
room. We spent there all the holidays and there weren’t more problems. So I
recommend you a lot this hotel but I hope that you won’t find a spider in your
bed!

SECOND CHANCE
Michael
closed the door and knew at that moment he had made a mistake. He felt upset because
he couldn’t do any of the exercises in the exam. Then he felt strange and he
started running across the corridors. He went outside and he stopped at the
school monument in the garden. “If I hadn’t gone out of the class, I wouldn’t
have failed this maths exam” he thought. “Now I have to be optimistic. I have
possibilities to pass the recuperation exam”. Suddenly he was been calling by
his math’s teacher, Mrs Dawson. She approached to him and she said that she gave
him a second opportunity to do that exam. But Michael said: “Thank you Mrs Dawson,
but I’m not going to do this exam...” “Don’t say that Mr Bradford! You’re an
intelligent person, you can do this. So come on and don’t reply me”. Michael
agreed and went inside the school. He sat down in his table and started doing
the exam. Afterwards, he passed. Sometimes second opportunities are good
thoughts.

SURPRISE BIRTHDAY PARTY
One day my
friend Peter sent me an email asking me if I could help him organise a special surprise
birthday party for his sister Anna. He also asked me if I could give any ideas,
suggesting some places where we can go, the best present for Anne, if we could
meet some day to organise the party... And I response this:
“Hi Peter,
I presume
that this birthday party for Anna will be fantastic and definitely it will be a
pleasure to help you. I don’t think that your house is too small but anyway if
you think so we can book the Majestic Hotel. However, booking this hotel it’s
too expensive. Another place where we can go is to the restaurant directed by
Phil’s mother. Phil told me that they had excellent cooks and we also could
have a band there.
It’s always
difficult for me to think about possible presents for people when it’s their birthday
but I’ve known Anna for a lot of years and she enjoys travelling. We could buy
her a cruise across the Mediterranean or a Safari in Kenya. There are any
places in the world!
I’m sorry
but I can’t come the day before the party to help you because I have to work
overtime that day. If you has asked me this before I wouldn’t have asked to do
overtime. Although we can meet up two days before the party if you want. I
think that this party will be very special if we make a tematical party, for
example a white party, where everybody has to wear white clothes, or a beach
party where everyone has to wear swimming suits and they could refresh themselves
in little swimming pools or foam canons.
I hope to
listen of you soon.
Kind
Regards,
Eudald”
The party
was en exit. Anna was very happy and she really liked my ideas and all the
assistants agreed that this party has to be repeated. Peter and I make a good
team!

A SPECIAL WEEDING
Hello! My name is John and I’m
going to tell you how I met my girlfriend.
A few months ago I had a
weeding. For personal reasons I arrived late and many of the guests had gone
home. Monica was sitting on the stairs red-eyed. Monica is the sister of Anna,
the girl who had been just married. She
had been crying but she was OK now. She told me that she was waiting for a taxi
but the taxi hadn’t come. I offered her a lift home and she accepted. As we
were walking to my car, she touched my hand. “I’ve been thinking of you”, she said.
“You’re one of the kindest people I’ve met in my life”. At that moment I felt
awkward and embarrassed. I had never been in a situation like that before.
Monica had always been the girl of my dreams. She was watching me with her brilliant
eyes and I felt a little nervous. The night was getting dark and the moon
illuminated her face. I touched her hand and finally I said “I’ve been thinking
about you too”. After that we both laughed. When we arrived at her home he invited me to spend
the night with her and...
And that’s all folks. Since
that day we are in love and forever and ever!
MY TWO FAVOURITE BOOKS
During my whole life I have
read a lot of books and I hope to read more in the future. There are some books
that I like. It’s difficult for me to chose only two books but I’m gonna do
that. Now, I’m going to explain some reasons why these two books are important
for me.
Two years ago I read “The
Catcher in the Rye”, a novel written by J.D.Salinger. The story is about the
adventures of Holden Cauldfield, a northamerican teenager in the 50’s. In my
opinion the main character, Holden, represents the rebelliousness and the desire
of a typical teenager. His inexperience and his behaviour remind me to myself.
Another book that I really
like is “The Hunger Games”, written by Suzanne Collins. The novel is situated
in the USA of the future, where every year celebrates a game where two
teenagers (one boy and one girl) of the 12 districts of the town have to
participate in them. The game consists in a fight for the survival. The main
character is a young girl and she have to participate in the games. I think
that the plot isn’t the principal of the story; the principal element of the story
is the way how the authoress tells the argument. She explains the story with intrigue
and she catches you and you can’t stop to read.
At the moment these are my
favourite novels. But maybe in the future I will read more books and these will
change!
SEVILLA!
Last Easter I went to Sevilla
and I spent some days there. We left the 31th by plane very early in the
morning. When we arrived we rent two cars and we went to the apartment that we
had rent in Bromujos, a little urbanization near Sevilla. In the afternoon we
visited the Gold Tower, where the ancient spanish people kept the gold from
America; and “La Maestranza” the typical bullring and the museum. After that we
ate some tapas in a typical tavern with a very funny name: “Matahambre”
The next day was the Palm
Sunday and all the people wore smart and new clothes and they went to see the
different processions. It was cloudy and some processions didn’t start. We visited
“Plaza España”, a very beautiful semi-circular square. That midday we had lunch
in an argentinean restaurant. Then, in the afternoon, we saw one procession but
before we did a cruise through the Guadalquivir.
On Monday, we woke up early
and we’re going to visit “Los Reales Alcázares”, where the old kings of Spain
had lived. Their rooms are very big and well-decorated and they have very
colourful gardens. In the afternoon we visited the Macarena and and then, unexpectedly,
we saw a very long procession. I don’t like the processions because I am a
nonbeliever and I found it long and boring.
The following two days we did
one-day trips. At first we went to Jerez and we visited the Alvaro Domecq
winery, where we saw the different types of Jerez wine and we also did a little
wine-tasting. After that, immediately we went to see the horse show of the Royal
Andalusian School of Equestrian Art Foundation. The show was wonderful and the
horses were gorgeous and very well-educated. That night we watched the
F.C.Barcelona VS Milan match in a typical bar.
The next one-day trip was in
Córdoba. There, we visited the cathedral. It was fantastic! The cathedral is an
ancient mesquite and the arabian arches are really beautiful. In the afternoon
we saw another procession, but this one was shorter than the others.
The last day we were going to
see the Sevilla’s cathedral and “La Giralda”. The gothic cathedral is very big
and “La Giralda” is the bell tower. This bell tower hasn’t got stairs and you
have to go up by ramps. Then we did a tour with carts pulled by horses. At last
we went to the airport and we returned home but the plane wasn’t there at time,
so we arrived at home too late! Although, it was a very good time!

CARNIVAL
The last 18th of Febraury in Torelló took place “El Carnaval de Terra Endins”. It’s the most important carnival of Osona and a lot of people of different ages assisted at this carnival. The carnival began with an entourage where all the assistants follow the different carriages dancing and having fun. The entourage finishes in a place and there the people met and after they go to “Carpes” a discotheque in the pavilion of the town.
This year with a group of friend we decided to wear an original costume, and we decided that we disguise like LMFAO, an American electro pop duo who wear strange and original clothes. They also have their own dance, the shufflin’. We wore a black T-shirt with the sentence of their most famous song: “Everyday I’m shufflin’”, a leopard pants and strange glasses and afro wigs. We also learn the dance.
It was a very funny and crazy night, we saw a lot of people and we dance a lot... Hahahaha
SEE U
BANDSLAM
Bandslam is a musical and romantic comedy film produced by Summit Entertaintment and directed by Todd Graff. The principal actors are Vanessa Hudgens, Aly Michalka and Gaelan Connell. The film was released in 2009 and it was well-received by the most teenagers of the world.
The movie is about Will Burton, a boy who is a bit special and is David Bowie’s number one fan. When Will change school he meet Charlotte and Sam. Will during the film falls in love with Sam. With Charlotte he formed a group called “I can’t go on, I’ll go on” and they want to participate in the Bandslam, a battle of rock bands.
The soundtrack of the film is very interesting. There are some famous songs produced by some famous groups and singers, like David Bowie and The Velvet Underground. The two songs that I love of the film are the both covers of famous songs: “ Someone to fall back on” and “Everything I own”.

COP DE ROCK
Cop de Rock is a musical that it’s interpreting now in Barcelona. It’s about the most famous songs of the Catalan rock. The plot is about a music group called Cop de Rock, formed by four components. Roc, the singer, falls in love with a girl, Lluna, and the history continues with this romance combining the plot with the rock songs.
I have seen it twice: the first time I saw it with my grandparents. The second time I went to see it with my bestfriend and it was the last play of the musical. It was very emotive play! The actors improvise in some parts and the public sang all the songs. At the end of the performance they cried and all the public were clapping their hands.
With my bestfriend we said that this musical is the musical it’s the musical of our lives!
LOL (Laughing Out Loud)
LOL is a 2008 French comedy movie directed by Lisa Azuelos. The film is about a girl called Lola, whose nickname is Lol. She is 16 and her life it’s the typical life of a teenager: the studies, her secret diary, her friends, her boyfriends, her family, her divorced parents, drugs and sexuality. The movie cast is Sophie Maceau, Christina Theret and Jerémy Kapone.
I have seen this films three times. The first time that I watched this movie was in 3 ESO in French class. Since that day I really like this movie, it’s funny and shows very well the life of the teenagers.
The last time that I saw this movie it was with the two Sara’s, Sara Moral & Sara Muñoz, at Moral’s house. They haven’t seen the movie before and the said that it was a fantastic movie but the best thing was the main actor because he is very handsome... LOL
COOKING TIME!
When I was a child I used to like to help to my grandfather cooking. We always prepared our own pizzas... Mmmm, delicious! At school we sometimes cook some food too, like cookies, bread... In English class I used to say “chicken” instead of “kitchen”, and all my classmates laughed and also the teacher, who was my mother.
When I grow up my interest for cooking grow too. I assisted to a course called “Cuinar sense pares” and it was a very good experience and now I can prepare my own meals. But the foods that I really like to cook are desserts! I love that! I cook crepes, bonbons, sponge cakes, cakes, cupcakes, muffins... Although, the best dessert that I prepare are coulants! They’re delicious! There are chocolate brownies with the form of a cupcake and with melted chocolate inside. I usually accompany that with an excellent English cream, and this combination is irresistible!
TONIS MANLLEU
Every January in Manlleu and in other places took place the “Festa dels Tonis”. This celebration is about St. Antoni, the protector of the farmers and the animals.
The main celebration is “el Passant dels Tres Tombs”. The participants ride horses or go with carts through the main streets of the town. The principal participants are the flagman and the two people who go together with, holding the cords. The Passant lasts all the morning and finishes in the Plaça Fra. Bernadí. Then, the “Ball del Ciri” begins. This dance is a typical dance whose couples dance in the middle of the square. The women dance with a bunch of buxus with a white candle and the men wear a hat. At first dance the children and then the flagman and the cordmen.
This party is very important for me and my family because we always have participated in all the acts and my grandfather had been the president of the “Gremi” for some years.
"Habitants de la vil·la de Manlleu, qui de burro en amunt no celebri la festa de St. Antoni pagarà un bot de vi d'alella!"

NEW YEAR
The 31th of December was a very strange and stressing day. That night I was going to a New Year Party in the Patí Vic with all my friends but before I had to go to have dinner and to do the countdown with my parents and some friends in Tona.
I woke up late and I did some homework. Then the telephone rang and it was my grandmother. She told me that my cousin, who was staying with her, was ill. I had to run to her house to bring them some Ibuprofenos. But I only had two.
In that situation, I think that in the afternoon I will go to the pharmacy to buy some. The only pharmacy opened that day was in the Avinguda de Roma. I went to the pharmacy by moto but... The St. Sylvester’s course was going on! I had to return home, left the moto and go to the pharmacy walking. After buying the Ibuprofenos I went to my grandmother’s house and I gave her the medicine.
Afterwards I went running at home to have a shower and we went to Tona. After had dinner we did the countdown and I went to celebrate de 2012! A very big party with a lot of Fun!
Happy New Year! J
TYPICAL CHRISTMAS
This year I spent all the Christmas holidays in a rural house in St. Martí, a little town near Manlleu. I was there with the family of my father. My cousins live in Castelló and they always come here for Christmas.
In the house we haven’t got a central heating and we always use a very big hearth. In the morning we used to have hot chocolate and coca for breakfast. Then we went outside and we played football or badminton. After having lunch we used to play poker or other card games.
In the 24th evening we “vam cagar el tió” and then we had an excellent dinner.
I think that Christmas is always a time to stay with your family and eat typical and unusual food, especially if the food are cooked by your grandmother.
And here a Christmas song! Happy X-MAS!
